What it is
A workbench is the flat, hygienic surface where food is cut, portioned, assembled and plated. Its lower shelf holds pans, containers and small equipment out of the way.
How it works
A single sheet or reinforced top spreads load across a welded frame, with adjustable feet to level the surface. A smooth, sealed steel top wipes clean and does not absorb odours the way wood does.
How to use it in the kitchen
- 1
Set the bench where prep flows naturally between fridge, cooking and pass.
- 2
Level the feet so cutting boards do not slide.
- 3
Store frequently used pans and containers on the lower shelf.
- 4
Wipe and sanitise between tasks.
Best for
- Prep stations in restaurants
- Bakery and pastry rooms
- Hotel and canteen kitchens
Before you buy
- Match length to your wall or line, for example 1800mm for a full station.
- Check the height suits your staff, commonly around 800mm.
- Ask about the load rating for mixers and machines you plan to put on top.
Care and cleaning
- Wipe with mild detergent and dry.
- Do not cut directly on the steel, use boards.
- Check leg fixings regularly.

Questions
Can I put a heavy mixer on it?
Check the load rating and the bench frame first. For heavy machines, use the recommended stand or reinforced model.
